Bandwidth
outline
The Bandwidth interface displays bandwidth usage information in several sets of graphs. Each graph contains information about bandwidth usage over a specific time period over a specific period of time.
The graph displays bandwidth information in six categories:
- HTTP — Web traffic.
- POP3 — Email retrieved from an account on the server.
- IMAP — Email retrieved from an account on the server.
- FTP — file transfer.
- SMTP — Email sent from the account.
- All (all services)
Note :
- The Total (All Services) category provides the combined total of all other categories.
- The system records bandwidth only for SMTP (outgoing) messages. The system does not include POP3 or IMAP (incoming) messages in bandwidth calculations.
You can use this information to monitor your website's peak traffic times and decide whether to purchase additional bandwidth.
slot
The interface displays the server's time zone settings as follows:
All times are in the "America/Chicago" time zone
If the system detects that your browser's time zone does not match the server's time zone, the interface includes a notice similar to the following:
Set the time to "America/Chicago" time zone and reload.
Click the link to reset the time zone and reload the interface.
last 24 hours
Past 24 The time graph displays the data rate in bits per second for the current date, as an average over 5-minute intervals.
By default, this graph updates every two hours. However, your hosting provider may require WHM's Statistics Software Configuration ) If you adjust the bandwidth data process interval in the interface ( WHM > > Home > > Server Configuration > > Statistics Software Configuration ), the bandwidth data that the system displays affects the amount of
Use this graph to view the following information:
- Small-scale trends (for example, sudden spikes in traffic at certain times of day).
- Changes throughout the day (for example, traffic increases and decreases).
last week
Past week The graph shows the data transfer rate in bits per second over the last 7 days, averaged over 5-minute intervals.
Sample last week's graph.
Use this graph to view the following information:
- Large-scale trends (for example, traffic spikes around the same time every day for the past three days).
- Changes over the past week (for example, increased or decreased traffic over a 2-7 day period).
yesteryear
The Past year graph displays the total amount of data the system transferred over a 12-month (one-year) period.
Use this graph to find long-term trends over a year. For example, this graph might indicate that your account sees a spike in traffic in the middle of each month.
monthly pie chart
The monthly pie chart shows the relative amount of data the various services and domains in your cPanel account utilize each month.
sample pie chart
Use the pie chart to view the following information:
- Total amount of data transferred by the system each month.
- Relationships between services change each month. For example, SMTP total bandwidth increased from 5% to 50% in one month, while HTTP bandwidth decreased.
- The change in bandwidth yield of one domain compared to another. For example, the domain example1.com accounts for 50% of all traffic across all sites, and example2.com accounts for approximately 25%.
To view the Bandwidth Transfer Detail ( Bandwidth Transfer Detail ) interface for a month click the pie chart for that month.
Note :
To view usage information for an individual website or service, click the usage link for a month. The new interface displays detailed monthly traffic information for a specific service or website.
Bandwidth Transfer Details Interface
To view bandwidth transfer information for a specific month, click All (All Services) for that month.
This interface contains a set of bandwidth usage graphs for the following types of traffic:
- HTTP
- SMTP
- FTP
- POP3
- IMAP
Total Traffic ( Monthly )
The All Traffic Monthly graph displays the average hourly bytes transferred by the system during the month. Past Year (Past Year) Provides a detailed version of the data displayed by the graph.
Use this graph to find trends over a period of days or weeks. For example, this graph could indicate that your account received more traffic on certain days.
Monthly Traffic Graph
The Monthly Traffic graph serves the same purpose as the All Traffic (All Traffic) graph, but the system separates data for individual services.
All Traffic ( Daily )
All Traffic The daily graph displays the 30-minute average of bits transmitted per second by the system. A more detailed version of the All Traffic monthly graph.
By Service Daily Traffic Graph
Below the All Traffic ( All Traffic ) graph is a series of one or more bar graphs for specific services. This serves the same purpose All Traffic graph, but the system separates the data for individual services.
Daily Bandwidth
The Bandwidth by Day table lists the total amount of data, in megabytes (MB), from your cPanel account that the system transferred on a specific day of the month.
You can click on any day in the table to see detailed information about that day's traffic.
Note :
We recommend that you view the Bandwidth by Day table at least 24-48 hours after the last day of the period for which you want to obtain data. This allows the system to collect and process traffic data.
Unrecorded bandwidth information
Bandwidth (Bandwidth) displays information about the website, not the cPanel & WHM servers. As a result, the system does not count the following processes for bandwidth usage or allocation:
- Protocols such as file manager upload and download.
- Incoming mail delivered by another server.
- POP/IMAP bytes received for operations such as polling for new emails.
- SMTP (received) mail.
- DNS activity.
- Any user process created by a cron job that performs network activity.
System administrators can monitor the bandwidth of cPanel & WHM servers through the Munin plugin. This plugin supports WHM's Manage Plugins interface ( WHM > > Home > > cPanel > > Plugins Manage (Manage Plugins ) ) You can download it from .
